An alien spaceman, a doctor and a “sweet transvestite.” Tim Curry is the maniacal cannibal lead in both the film, and original cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The influence both projects have had on the 53 years' worth of people on the fringe, and the beautifully strange is nothing short of remarkable.

Tim Curry died on August 25th at 80 years old in Los Angeles California. His loss was

announced a day after another glittery legend Dolly Parton passed away. As true of a gentleman Tim was, even in his final act of life he warmly allowed the news of Dolly to take the center page.

Although both Curry and Parton died the same day, the news of his passing was announced early the next morning on August 26th. Leaving WEHO a mess, and the eyes of the world's eccentric children teary. With the world in complete shock, and now in the hands of grief it's also just about that time again, when the midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show start to play.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show written by Ritchard O’Brien then directed by Jim Sharmen, is the decadent bat signal for all of life’s alternatives. The punks, goths, and the freaks and geeks can all agree. Most importantly this film and play is a cultural landmark for the LGBTQ+ community. It’s not just a beacon cementing historical acceptance, but it’s also a dare to stop dreaming and to start being, the radical encouragement has helped generations of people find inner peace and self acceptance.

Tim Curry otherwise known as Dr. Frank-N-furter, is the leather clad, glitter soaked, fishnet

adorned, antagonist and space alien transvestite from the planet Transsexual. Tim’s face is the striking image, that has become forever immortalized in the brand of Rocky Horror.

For 53 years The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Dr Frank-N-furter have become a seasonal

tradition, consistently all across the country. In the months of September through October the midnight screenings, with a wildly talented shadow cast are never missing from a theater near you. The audience is also part of the cast, intermingled with the campy dialogue.

The rock n roll inspired camp belted throughout the entire show with Tim Curry in full Fran-N-Furter regalia, will now always in part be sung as a tribute to the late actor. This year either at The Frida, The Ford, The Wiltern, The Art Theater or wherever you might find a

showing, just remember that there’s a light over at the Frankenstein place.
